48 Hours in Albion: A Local's Weekend Plan
Coffee worth waking for, river walks, the good markets, and where to eat — the route our team actually takes on weekends off.
Guests constantly ask what to do around here, so here's the honest answer — the weekend our own staff actually run, written down properly for once.
Saturday Morning: Coffee and the Markets
Start local. Albion's village strip does serious coffee — get in before 8 am if you want the bench seat. The Saturday markets two suburbs over are worth the short drive: produce, plants, and the best pastries this side of the river.
If you'd rather not drive, the hotel's own breakfast at Fox & Field is honestly competitive — I've eaten there on my days off, which says something.
Afternoon: River and Streets
The riverwalk is the move — flat, shaded, and it makes Brisbane look better than it has any right to. Hire a scooter near the boardwalk if you're feeling lazy; it's the best $12 in tourism.
Back at the hotel by 4 pm is smart. That's pool-and-sauna hour before dinner, and the spa is quietest then.
"Everyone asks for the tourist list. The local list is shorter, cheaper and better."
Sunday: Slow, Then Lunch
Sunday is for doing less. Late checkout if you're staying, a long brunch, then the Sunday roast at Fox & Field — it books out weekly for a reason. If you're heading home, leave after lunch and you'll beat the traffic.
Weekend Cheat Sheet
- Markets run 6 am–12 pm Saturdays — go early or miss the pastries.
- Riverwalk is flat and free; scooters sit near the boardwalk entry.
- Spa is quietest 4–6 pm — book a late massage, not a morning one.
- Sunday roast needs a booking — locals learned that the hard way.
Want someone else to drive? Our leisure tours run half-day city circuits and winery days — all the highlights, none of the parking.
